Brainerd’s Tyner to compete in steeplechase prelims

Brainerd High School graduate Justin Tyner will compete in the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase prelims Monday in the Olympic Trials at Eugene, Ore.

The race is scheduled to begin at 7:25 p.m. CDT Monday and may be televised on NBCSN.

Tyner, a graduate of the Air Force Academy, is one of 24 athletes scheduled to compete in the prelims.

Twelve to 14 athletes will qualify for the finals, which will be run at 8:30 p.m. Thursday and is scheduled to be televised on NBCSN.
